Alabaster Dove Lost Love Bird Mate Seeking Matchmaker Attributed Santini Italy
This dove was originally in a pair of love birds originally designed by R. Santini in Italy. The birds are carved of alabaster, the white substance sometimes called marble dust and often used in ancient times for religious or other statues. This is a copy of the original design. The detail is particularly nice on the chest where it puffs out realistically. The eyes and beak were painted by a previous owner. The tail stands 3 1/2" and the Dove is 4" long from head to tail. There is no signature. Several areas show a little wear and the very tip of the beak seems to have lost some of the added yellow paint.Please help find and reunite these love birds!
