Antique 1920s Carl Gebauer German Art Pottery Slip-Decorated Low Bowl (Mold 29A)

An exceptional piece of early 20th-century European art pottery, this original Secessionist/Art Nouveau low studio bowl was crafted by renowned German ceramicist Carl Gebauer at his workshop in Bürgel, Thüringen. Dating to the 1920s, this collectible stoneware piece perfectly captures the rustic elegance of Weimar-era German studio pottery.

The shallow circular form features two uniquely integrated, low-profile side handles elegantly built into the rim structure. It is beautifully hand-decorated using a traditional slip-trailing technique (squeeze-bag glaze application) over a rich, matte chocolate-brown clay base. The center wells showcase an stylized, abstract six-petal floral medallion rendered in soft pink and dark navy/cobalt blue, highlighted by raised, slip-trailed bright yellow accents. A repeating scalloped border trims the inner rim, flanked by matching yellow slip-dots along the spine of each handle.

The underside features a crisp, authentic incised hallmark reading "29A Germany", designating the specific shape mold and standard interwar export provenance.
