Crystalline Glazed Blue Vase Signed Bill Meadows WV
Crystalline glazes are made by mixing high-zinc, low-alumina, and high-silica raw materials—primarily frits—that melt into a very fluid, runny coating at high temperatures (cones 9-11). These glazes create large, visible, flower-like crystals (zinc silicates) during a slow, specialized cooling, or "firing soak," which forces the melted ingredients to precipitate into crystal formations. 👉5”H x 3 1/3“W 👉Shipping Overages Over $1 Is Refunded 👉Progressive Shipping is Not Used on Items That Are Heavy Or Fragile 👉No Chips or Cracks 👉Review Photos For Best Condition Description 👉Sold As Shown FUN FACTS: Bill Meadows (1939–2022) was an award-winning studio potter and educator based in Huntington, West Virginia. He was highly regarded for his wheel-thrown functional and decorative stoneware, which combined traditional 19th-century folk pottery influences with modern techniques. The Marks Project states Meadows was best known for his crystalline glazes, often featuring vibrant, multi-colored patterns that grew during the firing process. He also frequently used salt drip glazes.
