Vintage Dorothy Thorpe Silver Band Chip & Dip Complete Serving Set

Beautiful vintage Dorothy Thorpe silver-band glass chip and dip serving set, featuring the iconic wide silver overlay and clear Lucite holder associated with glamorous mid-century entertaining.

This complete set includes the large serving/chip bowl, coordinating dip bowl, small silver-band toothpick/cocktail-pick glass, and clear Lucite double holder that displays the smaller pieces above the large bowl.

The combination of crystal-clear glass, broad silver bands and Lucite creates a striking Mid-Century Modern presentation—perfect for a vintage bar, cocktail party, holiday entertaining or a Dorothy Thorpe collection.

Condition

This set is in very good vintage condition, especially considering its age. No major cracks have been observed. Surface scratch marks on large bowl bottom rim. Two extremely tiny flea bites on dip bowl bottom rim. A small flea bite on the bottom of one side of the toothpick holder. (See pictures.)

The original silver bands show age-related tarnish, oxidation, spotting and surface wear, as shown in the photographs. The silver has intentionally been left unpolished so the next owner may decide whether—and how—they wish to clean or polish the vintage finish.

The clear Lucite holder is also in vintage pre-owned condition and may show minor age-related surface wear.

Shipping & Packing

This is a substantial, multi-piece vintage glass set and will be packed with extra care for safe transit.

Each glass component will be individually protected, with a soft barrier placed against the vintage silver finish before exterior cushioning is applied. The pieces will be securely packed in an inner carton and double-boxed inside a larger shipping carton with additional cushioning on all sides.

The Lucite holder will also be individually protected and packed separately from the glass surfaces.

Because of the size, weight, protective materials and double-boxed packaging required to safely ship this vintage set, the calculated shipping cost may be higher than that of a typical serving bowl. The additional package size is intentional to provide appropriate protection during transit.

The set will be shipped disassembled for protection and can easily be reassembled for display or use upon arrival.
