Instant Collection - Vintage Mercury Glass Christmas Bird Ornaments (Germany)

A fabulous instant collection of vintage blown glass bird ornaments, likely from Germany and Czechoslovakia, dating circa 1940s. These hand-painted treasures feature vibrant metallic colors, original spun glass tails (yes, that’s actual glass fiber, not plastic!), and metal clip or hook attachments for easy display. Spun glass tails were an early decorative use of fine glass fibers — the predecessor to modern fiber optics — giving these birds a beautiful wispy effect. Collectors love the charm and craftsmanship of these heirloom pieces, and sets like this are becoming harder to find.
