Vintage (‘50s) A.L. Hirsch "Rover" Dachshund/Weiner Dog Caddy, Ceramic MCM Planter

This vintage A.L. Hirsch Dresser/Vanity Caddy is their "Rover" design. This almost life-size adorable Dachshund (or Weiner Dog) is made of ceramic and was made in the 1950s. This MCM (mid-century modern) piece was designed with a long, curved tail to hold a watch or rings, a rectangular saddle basket to hold a wallet or a pack of cigarettes, and a side basket to hold coins, cufflinks, or other loosed items. It is an adorable yet functional addition to a dresser or it would also work as a planter (there are drainage holes on the rectangular saddle basket). The body of the dachshund is in a warm brown and has a hand-painted face. The yellow baskets have an embossed design. The caddy is 9 inches in height, 7.4 inches in length, and 5.5 inches in width. It is a substantial/stable piece, weighing 1 1/2 pounds!

The Dachshund is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. There is some light crazing commensurate with age.
