Vintage Tutsy #138 Gray Kitten Cleaning Paw, Made By Robert Simmons Ceramics 1960’s, Made In USA
Vintage “Tutsy” #138 gray cat kitten cleaning paw, made by Robert Simmons Ceramics 1960’s, made in USA. Very cute, however has some damage. I just couldn’t leave him. His left paw has a repair, small crack down stomach but doesn’t go all the way through, both ears are chipped, (see pics). Measures 3.5x3x1.75. Weighs 4oz. Here is more information I found on Robert Simmons website: Robert Simmons Ceramics were manufactured from the 1940’s to the early 1960’s and most of them are actually copies of other company's figurines! Beswick & Royal Doulton were the two most copied companies but there were others. The sets/pairs of animal figurines usually shared a single item number and the figurines were often marked with a Robert Simmons sticker & a small silver rectangular sticker with the animal’s name and item number. Many of the animal figurines also have a spot of paint on the bottom of a foot. Figurines were also occasionally marked with the item number on the bottom, carved or ink stamped. Simmons was partnered with Burke (from Burke-Winton) under the name Burke-Simmons.
