Antique German Majolica Hibiscus Serving Tray with 6 Plates: Basketweave Design
Antique German Majolica handled serving tray and 6 plates made by Georg Schmeider in Zell, Germany C. 1900-1920. They are done in a golden basketweave pattern featuring a red Hibiscus flower in the center with a rope like rim. Between 1907-1928 Georg Schmeider sold decorated unmarked Majolica pieces to the Flambeau China Co, a decoration and export co.. in Limoges, France. They would impress their LDBC logo and "Made in Germany" onto the back and export them to Great Britain and the US. They measure approximately: Tray: 13" between outsides of handles, 11 1/2" in diameter, 1 3/4" deep; Plates: 6 3/4" in diameter. They are in excellent antique condition with no visible chips, cracks or scratches.
