This beautiful, funky piece of art pottery is glazed in a thick white crawling/lava glaze on red clay. It's signed by the artist. The lid is glazed with the same off-white speckled glaze, featuring some characters written on top. Google images could not decipher them. The piece is reminiscent of Jean Besnard's work from the 1930s-1940s, but I don't think it's that old. Please note I am NOT suggesting this is a piece by Jean Besnard, just in his style. The piece is glazed inside and out. It is gorgeous in its simplicity and in good condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
