Marvin Finn Handmade Urban Folk Art Gecko/Lizard Multicolor Signed Dated 2000 This is one of three different pieces by this folk artist Marvin FINN that I have this one is either a gecko or a lizard. The colors are a vibrant, blues greens and reds. It is signed on the bottom Finn 2000 overall it’s a very good condition. No chips or cracks. There is some rubbing in spots but very minor. Please see all photos so you can see all the details. The last two pictures show the bottom of the wood underneath there is a crack that was in the wood when this was made, it does not go all the way through. It’s only on the first layer underneath please see the photos ask any questions. I am listing two other ones a large rooster and a bird/duck. These are from my own collection Here is a bio on the artist Marvin Finn (1913–2007) was a renowned African American folk artist based in Louisville, Kentucky, famous for his vibrant, whimsical, and brightly painted wooden sculptures of animals (especially roosters) and machinery. Born in Alabama, his self-taught style, often featuring bold stripes and dots on reclaimed wood, was inspired by farm life and later earned him, this place on the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, national recognition.
