Mid-Century Italian Murano Pink Scavo Art Glass Vase with Curlicue/Scroll Handles 5-5/8” T x 5-3/4”
Vintage mid-century Murano art glass cabinet vase crafted in Italy. This elegant piece features a delicate rose-pink color palette and is designed in a classical ancient Greco-Roman urn style.Technique & Details Finish: Made using the famous Scavo technique (meaning "excavated"). The glass is chemically treated to give it a stunning, frosted, matte, and slightly crusty texture that mimics ancient archaeological relics.Handles: Features two beautifully hand-applied, satin-finished curlicue/scroll handles on the shoulders. Scavo glass originated in Venice, Italy, specifically on the island of Murano. The technique was developed and introduced in the 1940s and 1950s by artisans like Alfredo Barbini and the Cenedese factory, who created the "dug up" effect to imitate ancient Roman and Etruscan archaeological finds. While it was invented in Murano, the technique is now practiced all over the world. Meaning: "Scavo" is Italian for "dug up" Purpose: To recreate the weathered, mineralized appearance of ancient, excavated Roman and Etruscan glass artifacts Condition: No chips or cracks. Carbon flecks from the glassblowing process are present, highlighting its unique artisan nature. Measurements are approximate, please see pictures for condition and measurements as they are a part of the description. N2-2 Thank you for shopping JadeVineVintage and Niknax!
