Vintage English Moorcroft Pottery VIOLETS Pattern Paperweight on Wooden Plinth~RARE!!
This is a very rare VIOLETS Paperweight by Sally Tuffin of Moorcroft Pottery of England, Moorcroft paperweights are not easily found here in the USA and this pattern, especially as the VIOLETS pattern is one of the hardest patterns to find of Moorcroft. Moorcroft Pottery was the Potter to Queen Mary and he was appointed by the Queen herself in 1928. *In 1928, Queen Mary issued a Royal Warrant naming William Moorcroft "Potter to the Queen." Beloved by royalty and the general public alike, Moorcroft Pottery was fashioned in a variety of styles and colors during the early 20th century.
It is in amazing condition!! The wooden plinth is 5.0" in diameter and the paperweight is 3.5" in diameter and 1.3" tall, with a total height of 2.25". Please see all pics, as they are part of the description.
Moorcroft's Violets pattern is a highly collectible Art Nouveau-style design, celebrated for its rich, hand-applied tube-lining and deep, jewel-toned color palettes. It has been produced in a few notable iterations throughout the company's history. The most prevalent version was designed by the esteemed Sally Tuffin in the early 1990s (circa 1991–1996). This rendition features stylized floral, geometric layouts with pink and violet-purple flower heads set against moody backdrops of navy blue, soft yellow, and shaded olive-green. This era is typically marked with impressed factory marks and the designer's painted monogram on the base.
