Portrait of the famous French philosopher and author François Marie Arouet de Voltaire (1694-1778), one of the towering geniuses in literary and intellectual history in the Age of Enlightenment, happily writing at his desk. Mon's De Voltaire. L. Sen. Houston fec (engraver.) This mid 1800s etching measures approximately 13.5" tall and 10" wide. It is mounted on a larger piece of paper which is then mounted on a piece of chipboard or some type of old fiber/ chip backing board. The overall measurements are 16 1/4 x 12 7/8. The lithograph itself is in good condition considering its age. The bottom edge where the writing is has visible aging and minor damage to the page which has been stabilized when it was mounted on the backing. The paper which the etching is mounted to also has aging and peeling paper.
