This vintage nutcracker is in the form of a squirrel standing on it's hind legs with it's tail down and holding his hands up in front on it's face. The piece works by raising the tail up and placing a nut in the open mouth then lowering the tail - thus closing his mouth and cracking the nut. The piece is made of 2 halves held together with a screw. The squirrel is silver in color and has a base in the shape of a tree trunk on which it is standing. The bottom of the base has felt feet with some wear due to age...but can easily be replaced. Please view the pictures provided. Dimensions... 5.5" H (at the ears), 8.5" long (to end of tail), Base is 4.25" x 2.25" This piece is rare circa 1930’s, and fully functionable.
