Antique-Circa 1890's-Meissen Blue Onion Lithophane Stein
This is a highly collectible lidded porcelain beer stein originated from Germany. The unique design, featuring the iconic blue onion pattern or "Zwiebelmuster" pattern, adds to its charm and appeal. It has a pewter lid w/ a porcelain inlay that matches the body's design. It has a Lithophane Base-THIS is O SO COOL! The lithophane is in the bottom on the inside of the stein (see pics) it is an etched porcelain image that becomes visible when the stein is held up to a light source. The one with this one depicts a German couple presumably sitting in a meadow having a picnic. There is no makers mark. This is in excellent condition with no call outs, chips or cracks. This is by far the best stein I have ever run across in the wild. It measures approx 6"H, 4 1/2" from one end to the end of the handle. Diameter at the base is approx 3 1/4". 1 Lb
