Two Penny Black Die Proof (1840) A "Specimen for Cabinet" dated April 1840. This is a black die proof of the Two Penny stamp, engraved by Charles and Frederick Heath. The handwritten inscription reads: "Specimen of what the stamps are to be 1840 - This was prepared for the Cabinet." W. Adams's Scheme (1884) A proposal for postage stamps with unique shapes for different values, though all utilized a similar color palette. W. Adams was a clerk in the Controller of Stamps Office. Embossed Adhesive Stamps (1847–1854) William Wyon’s original design for the 1/- (one shilling) stamp. These were printed at Somerset House using a machine invented by Edwin Hill (brother of Rowland Hill) The octagon-shaped design includes a handwritten note: "Original design for the 1/- stamp submitted by Wyon - in 1847."
