Vintage 1983, Rare, Rhythms Art Glass, Multi-Color, Abstract Structure, Ovoid-Egg Shaped Paperweight
2.5" tall x 2.0" widest diameter. Great cond! Rhythms Art Glass Studio was a notable Canadian hot glass studio located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Founded in 1981, it holds the distinction of being the longest running glass studio on the west coast of Canada. The studio is celebrated for its distinctive hand-blown glass creations that feature vibrant, multi-layered color patterns and intricate chemical formulas developed by the artists themselves. The studio's signature aesthetic was primarily driven by two foundational glass artists: Linda Westrom: Renowned for her careful development of custom glass textures and bold visual designs. She notably spent three years perfecting a unique emerald green color recipe for her art series. Claude Duperron: Co-creator who collaborated closely with Westrom to produce highly collectible vases, paperweights, and sculptural bowls. Signatures: Authentic vintage pieces are etched or stamped on the base. They typically feature incisions reading "Rhythms", "CANADA", a two-digit year (such as "83" or "86"), and the lowercase initials "lw" or full artist signatures. Technique: Their signature style involves crushing colored glass rods into varying grain sizes to create distinct particle layouts. The molten glass is then rolled into these chips before being hand-blown, generating complex, multi-dimensional swirls, ribbons, and suspended air bubbles.
